Sudden Unexpected Death in Infant

Abstract
|
|
|
During January of 1959August of we had experi-
enced 57 cases of sudden unexpected death at Taegu Presbyterian Hospital, Department of Pediatrics and World Vision Children´s Hospital-.
It accounted for 11.3% of the infant mortality. 49 cases (80%) were under 6 month old with average age 3.7 months and the peak incidence in 3rd month of life.
Most of them (70%) was happened during December-April which is epidemic season of U.R.I.
Autopsy was performed for 37 cases. Pulmonary edema was found in 23 cases. By complete microscopic examination bronchopneumonic change was found in 8 cases.
